Position Title: Unit Based Clinical Leader
Location: Whittier
Department: BRH satellie unit @ PIH
Hours/Shifts: Flexible hrs. 7 pm - 7 am, Part-Time (32 hrs.) per pay period.
Union: Non-Union/Exempt
Summary: The CNL is a master’s- prepared registered nurse who assumes accountability for the healthcare outcomes for 14-16 patients within a unit through the assimilation of research-based information to design, implement, and evaluate patients plans of care. Serves as a lateral integrator for the healthcare team and facilitates, coordinates, and oversees the care provided by the healthcare team. Facilitates the reduction of adverse outcomes and promotes the improvement of the indicators selected on the Nursing Dashboard. Proactively manages patient services across the professional boundaries. Improves quality of care, assists in the preparation of nurses with competencies to meet the expected outcomes, utilizes research or evidence based practice to attain the aforementioned goals and assists the Clinical Director with employee evaluations, promotes education and mentoring/ coaching of staff in a blame free environment. Initiates change to facilitate systems which support quality outcomes. Assumes the role of “house supervisor”/ administrator in absentia when assigned and functions well in crisis and situations of uncertainty. Flexible scheduled hours during 7 pm - 7 am. For example 7 pm - 11 pm; 3 am to 7 am, or any other combination of hours to equal (16) hours per week.
Qualifications:
- Current California Registered Nurse licensure.
- BSN, Masters preferred or willingness to work toward completion of degree.
- Current BCLS and ACLS certification.
- Three to five years of current clinical experience in acute care with focus on respiratory patients, telemetry and critical care.
- One to three years management or supervisorary experience.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Demonstrated willingness to independently assist others with problem-resolution utilizing critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated skill in effectively communicating and active listening skills with peers, supervisors, physicians, patients and family members
- Demonstrated initiative to ensure quality patient care, customer satisfaction and infection control compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and delegate tasks with appropriate follow-up
- Ability to enforce established policy and procedure in a coaching / mentoring, non- judgmental fashion.
- Demonstrated Meditech competency and advanced computer competencies in use of software programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook e-mail.
