A Reflection – For Our Barlow Team and Community

Dear team members-

The murder of George Floyd and recent social unrest and upheavals have upended our world and have shaken our city, state and nation. We are all saddened and outraged at the racism (hidden and overt) which is prevalent in our society. It has shaken us to our core. In moments like this, we must keep faith in humanity and vow to fight injustice. We must be tolerant and respectful of each other and endeavor to make our society and world better.

At Barlow Respiratory Hospital, I see our team as diverse, dedicated and respectful of each other's contributions. Each of us works every day to achieve our mission of making a difference in the lives of critically ill patients. For that I am grateful. Thank you.

Beyond that effort, I believe this moment may provide an opportunity to reflect on ways to be a part of a larger change, beyond the halls of our hospitals.

There may be no map to guide us, but I trust that each step we take towards achieving the best outcomes and making a difference, here at Barlow and in the greater community, will be worth it. Let’s endeavor to fight for a fairer society for our future generations.

Thank you for all you do and may God bless you and your families.

Kind Regards,

Amit Mohan, PhD, FACHE, FACMPE
