Dr. Doran is Attending Physician; Associate Hospital Epidemiologist and Antimicrobial Steward; Associate Professor, Tufts University School of Medicine. She is an award winning scholar and serves the Tufts Medical Center Geographic Medicine and Infectious Diseases Division, an international center of excellence in infectious disease inpatient and outpatient treatment, research and infectious disease fellowship training.

  • Describe the rationale and common approaches to antimicrobial stewardship in healthcare in general and long-term acute care specifically.
  • ldentify examples of successful antimicrobial stewardship programs including data from a “remote access” program at a long-term acute care hospital.
  • Discuss future directions of antimicrobial stewardship including microbiome manipulation.


About The Hans E. Einstein, MD Memorial Lectureship

The Hans E. Einstein, MD Memorial Lectureship is an annual CME accredited scientific lecture series for pulmonary / critical care professionals held on the historic Barlow Respiratory Hospital campus in Los Angeles. The evening is presented by the Hospital and Barlow Center for Outcomes and Value, formerly known as Barlow Respiratory Research Center, led by Dr. David Nelson and Meg Hassenpflug, MS, RD, FCCM and includes a Social Hour, Dinner and Scientific Session featuring a visiting professor. The lecture series honors the late Hans E. Einstein, MD for his pioneering contributions and longstanding dedication to the advancement of medicine.

A cousin of Albert Einstein, Dr. Hans Einstein  served Barlow Respiratory Hospital as Medical Director and CEO, and as a member of the Barlow Respiratory Hospital Board of Directors. He devoted more than half a century to developments and improvements in diagnosing and treating many well-known and costly diseases, including tuberculosis, AIDS and Valley Fever.
